Just grateful…

I’ve had a challenging month this last month. It started with a long over due vacation. We decided to go with my parents and brother camping in the Utah west desert. We had a lot of fun the first day we were there. What we didn’t plan on was my two year old falling down the camper steps and breaking his leg. It’s a frightening thought when you know your child is injured and you are several hours from a hospital or cellular phone signal. The break was very bad. My dad wrapped him up in a stretcher with boxes, a foam egg crate, and duck tape so we could cross over the dirt roads to get to the hospital. Everything turned out ok and he had surgery that night to fix the leg. I was feeling pretty stressed for about a week after it all happened. He’s in a spica cast which is a little shocking for a parent. Anyway, I was in the middle of my stress meltdown over it and I took him for a checkup at the children’s hospital. As I went to leave, I was putting my stroller away and a car backed into me and hit me. I was confused at first and wondering what happened as I was laying there on the ground. Then, I felt a little mad. When the lady who hit me got out of her car, she just burst into tears. She wanted to know if I was ok and all of that. I knew I was. I just stood there shaking after I got up. Then, she just cried and told me how much stress they were under. She had a preemie baby who had been born 12 weeks early and had been in the hospital there for three months. She just cried and said it was so stressful for them. I realized at that moment that my two year old with his spica cast was nothing and I could handle it just fine. It was a very humbling experience. After I knew I was ok, I gave her a hug and sent her on her way. I am very grateful for my trials and all that I learn by going through them.

So, that has been the cause for the delay in posting to my blog the last few weeks. I’ve got to get back to some designing because it helps me feel creative. I do have a few new things in my store for you.

I keep seeds in my long term storage so I can always be ahead every year in case of some disaster or something. Anyway, I found a place that sells a survival seeds package of heirloom seeds that lasts up to 10 years in storage. I was so excited when I got it that I had to tell you all about this great find. It’s enough seeds to plant 3/4 of an acre in a crisis and the whole package is only $34.99 on sale! Heirloom seeds are hard to find. New floor, swine flu, and …

My husband was out of town all week. I was putting in new laminate flooring in my kitchen and front room. My dad came to help me which I really appreciate. In the middle of it all, my 6 year old daughter and I got sick with the flu and the doc thinks it’s swine flu all though they can’t really tell without an expensive test. Anyway, we got the Tamiflu and we’re really hoping the baby doesn’t get sick. It’s been miserable stuff though. Lance got back last night and he finished putting in the rest of the floor in the kitchen today. It looks so nice. Carpet and six kids just doesn’t work. :)

Free Double Template!

We had 4 soccer games today between all of our kids. Our youngest soccer player is 4 years old and let’s just say he’s not that into it. He was very excited to sign up and kicks the ball around the yard plenty. However, he was pretty much not interested in playing in a real game at all. And, bless his coach! She was so patient with him. She kept taking his hand and trying to get him interested. He actually did kick the ball one time I think. However, he was mostly interested in laying on the field, giggling, watching the sky, and throwing handfulls of grass up into the air! Here’s a photo that I’m going to have to scrapbook:

Yes, the one laying on the field while the other boys kick the ball past him is mine! Notice that he isn’t even facing the ball or the game…he’s looking out into the other end of the park day dreaming! :)
